127-unit mid-rise

RVE technologies were installed in Phase 3 of this 8-phase condo complex in Montreal, Quebec, in order to get parking spaces EV Ready. The installation was carried out by the team at Lilco Electric inc.

Challenge

Powering an electric vehicle charging infrastructure in a multi-unit building where some of the electric meters are located on the roof (inaccessible) and others are located in the garage basement (accessible).

Solution

To power a charging infrastructure for the units of this condominium, a dual solution was required. Indeed, since some of the meters were accessible while others were not, different technologies were installed.

For the units with accessible meters, the DCC product line was used:

  • DCC-9-BOX to provide charging infrastructure without installing chargers right away
  • DCC-9 for units with an electrical panel of 125A and less wanting a charger now

For units with inaccessible electrical meters, the recommended solution was to add a second meter; however, this solution is no longer accepted by utilities. The current solution would be to install an SMP smart panel, which was not available at the time.
